BDE Configuration

I have just completed a program that uses TQuery components to access data in a .db file. I can run it fine on my development machine but when I try to use the program on another machine after running my InstallShield install I get a "Table is read only" and the program will not update my database.

I kinda think that this is in the BDE configuration but don't really know. I set the BDE configuration in the setup (Installshield) to have the same alias name.

I am at a loss here. I cannot find anything that tells me why it will work on my machine but not on another.

Did you try creating the new alias within the BDE and not when you use InstallShield?

Do you distribute the program on a CD-ROM ?
Is any of the db-files marked read-only (DOS attrib) ?

This program was Distributed as a zip file. (No CDROM)

And it is not marked as read only via the Win95 attribute properties.

Have you checked that there isn't a *.lck (lock) file. If so, remove it and it should work. Otherwise compare all other parameters in BDE setup for the DB driver you use with the values set on your development machine. Could be this.
