"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Easiest way is to buy the ImageMan ActiveX suite from Data-Tech.  They have an excellent product that can do everything you can possibly imagine with images/scanning.  Check out the web site - www.data-tech.com.

You can go to http://www.twain.org and download there FREE EZTwain for Visual Basic and other languages which enables you to have access to TWAIN drivers. It could be scanners or digital cameras as long as they use TWAIN.
