why will my mouse not work on this sim in dos I have used
options mouse but an arrow does not appear.

Try another mouse driver.. As long as your mouse is Microsoft compatable it should work with almost any driver. Your driver may either be outdated or simply imcompatable with this version of microsoft flight simultor.

thank you joshk it was something i never thought about however i now have to admit my own stupidity it was simply that i had inadvertently pushed the right mouse button which takes away the arrow and allows the mouse to become a controller of the plane.by the way the mouse worked perfectly in windows 95
so i assumed that it wasnt the driver.thanks again for your answer have a nice week, pop cheers
