"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

In pagemill edit the html file and insert raw html. Usethe following to play a quicktime movie (replacing "movie.mov" with the URL to your movie:

<EMBED SRC="movie.mov" AUTOPLAY=True LOOP=False CONTROLLER=True PLAYEVERYFRAME=False>

Animated gifs will be played anyway (though pagemill will show them being static (open your file with your web browser to see it animated)

to play a sound use:

<EMBED SRC="sound.wav" AUTOSTART=True LOOP=False CONTROLLER=True HIDDEN>

hope that helps.

Its worth adding that System 7 sounds are not supported as such by web browsers and you should convert any system 7 sounds to one of the following formats:
.mid (midi file)
.aif (sound file)
.wav (pc sound file)
.mov (quicktime sound file)
.au (sun sound file)

Sound Edit 16 converts between most popular formats. QuickTime 2.5.1 allows you to convert system 7 sounds to quicktime sounds.

A good starting point for learning to add embedded objects to your web page is to visit a site that has sounds/movies etc. and then from Netscape select 'view document source' from the 'views' menu and hey presto you have a ready made example.

good luck
