This problem exists since the first version of SoftWindows.

The only solution I know is to print to a postscript file.
All you have to do is to leave the printer setting in the SoftWindows menue to "Postscript". On the PC side, you should use the correct windows printer driver for your printer and tell it to print to a postscript file. To make printing easy, this file should be saved to a Mac/PC shared folder. After printing to this file on the PC, you can easily change to the Finder and drag that file to a Mac application called "Drop PS". This application transfers postscript files directly to the specified printer.
You can download the current version 1.1.3 of Drop PS by searching for "drop-ps" at "http://www.shareware.com/".

Hope, this helps, Ralf.

PS: I you have problems with DROP PS or anything else, feel free to write a comment.

Have you made sure you are telling SoftWindows to use it's PostScript driver?

I think it defaults to Epson LQ2500.

You need to configure the driver in the Windows Control Panel AND in the SoftWindows Setup menu.

The printer settings are:
for softwindows: PC printer port is postscript,
for windows: printer manager: postscript printer on LPT 1

First I give the printcommand in the windows application, after have to put the command in softwindows "send to printer".
The data are sent to the printer, as the printer mentions "data proceeded", but nothing is printed.

I have difficulties to start DROP PS:
The program cannot find any printer, and there is neither a file with preferences to see

I'm sorry, but it's a while ago since I used DropPS for the last time. At the moment I have only a Mac without a printer.

I guess, if your postscript printer is switched on and viewable in the Chooser, it must be viewable in DropPS too.

When you start DropPS it shows up a dialog and you have to choose the AppleTalk zone (normally people have only one zone at home, then choose "default zone"). On the right side you should be able to see the answer of your printer and be able to choose it.

Be sure to have version 1.1.3 installed, because the history tells, that 1.1.3 fixes a bug where some printers (especially not in the default zone) could not be selected or seen.

I'm sorry, that I can't tell you more. In the past when I used this program, it worked fine. Once chosen the printer, it printed all the postscript files created in Windows.

Good luck, Ralf.
