Exporting Delphi application with DB

Hello,

I will soon start writing a new program with Delphi 2.0, using win95. This program I later want to give away to some friends, so I wonder if there is anything I must think of to make the program easily exportable. Like for instance, which DB to use, which files to copy, How to install on target computer etc.

Earlier I have written one small program with Delphi 1.0 and when moving the program to another computer all I had to do was to copy my tables and other files and then setting the alias on the new computer, but then I knew the target computer had Delphi. Now I want to be able to export to computers not having Delphi.

Also if I use 2.0, will the program be able to run under win 3.11?

You can use The native Database support(BDE) under Delphi 2, and easily distribute your application using Install Shield included with Delphi 2.  Install Shield includes support for distributing all the neccessary Database files.

And no.  Delphi 2 applications will NOT run under win 3.1.  Win3.1 is a 16 but OS.  Delphi 2 creates 32 bit executables.  They are NOT backwards compatible.
