help! I'm having problems opening my contact/calendar file in Claris Organizer 2.02. it opened fine yesterday and have been using it for the last several weeks.

Here's the problem:

When I restart my PPC Mac Instant Organizer locks up the machine after the extensions load.

I then force quit Instant Organizer and the mac finishes it's start up.
(Instant Organzier shows up in the menu bar but it says "starting up" when you pull down the menu).

I then try to open up Organizer the program, manually and it doesn't open the clock spins round & round and never opens.

Here's what I've tried to no avail:
1. Turned off all extensions and did a Conflict test with Conflict Catcher 4. also tried running with barest miminum extensions.
2. Checked with Norton Disk Doctor 3.5 (nada)
3. Reinstalled Organizer
4. Tried opening one of the supplied contact lists.

My machine:
StarMax 4000
64 megs of RAM
OS 7.6.1

What extensions specifically does Organzier 2.02 require?

Sharpy,

What probably happened was one of two scenarios:

1. that your contact/calendar file got corrupted and caused the initial freezup, or

2. the initial freezup caused the calendar file to get corrupted at startup (since the organizer extension loads the file during startup).

Try completely erasing the copy of Organizer that is on your HD either manually (use a creator/type search to isolate the files), or use a program like Spring Cleaning to un-install it.  THEN, re-install the program and use a backup of the calendar file from when you KNOW it was working.  But even before trying to re-load the old file, make sure it will load up properly and create a new file.  If you still can't load the old file, try FILE>IMPORT or even FILE>SYNCHRONIZE.  Or, if that even fails, use CanOpener to read the file's data, and manually re-enter your data into CO2.0.

Hope that helps,
Seigniory
