8-bit StretchBlt

I have an 8-bit color image with a palette which I want to perform a StretchBlt().  What is the best way to preserve colors when stretching?

If you are a Win32 user avoid StretchBlt() as far as possible. There is a much faster alternative by using a call 'StretchDIBits'. I enhances the stretching process in terms of speed and quality.
