When I compile a project the error "error setting debug execption hook" occurs. When I stop compiling and start compiling again the program seems to work but in the background the compiling is in a never ending loop.

There is a bug in delphi 2 that results in the above error whenever you try to compile a project when the previous run was stoppped with Run|Program Reset (ctrl f2). The next compile after this one however will run smoothly, as you suggest. The bug is sorted out in Delphi 3. The best way to prevent it in Delphi 2 is to never close an application with Run|Program Reset, but to shut it down by clicking the close icon on the Main Form border (or similar).

Well, has my answer solved your problem?

The error is within Delphi, so I must confess I don't know exactly what the error means. It must be thrown up by the Delphi code when something fails to initialise in the Debugger, on compilation. Essentially what it means is that you've got to try compiling again, which works (after you've Reset the Program again), so I've never really concerned myself over the exact meaning. It's a Bug afterall.
