When I define an IP address in the DNS service search order in my tcp/ip configuration on NT 4.0 client and server machines and then run my applet that calls inetadress.getlocalhost it takes about 20 seconds for
it to reply (this is an average over the 7 machines I tested on).  Once I remove the DNS IP addresses from the DNS service search order it response in 3 seconds (This is not exceptible because with no DNS internet access is lost).

ANY IDEALS ON HOW TO SPEED THIS UP ?????

THANKS and please respond to kenny@abtech.com

Check to see if your server is doing Reverses DNS lookup. If it is, disable it.
