This must be a very stupid and easy question but I cant seem to figure it out. If I have a memo box and do something like this: (say memo1.seltext="bob")

memo1.seltext := memo1.seltext + chr(13) + "hello";

it displays the following in the memo box:

bob|hello

what I want it to do is dislplay:

bob
hello

how do I get the memo box to make chr(13) a new line instead of a |. If i save the contents of memo1 and then reload it into the memo box it works fine.
I have also tried using chr(10) (I think that is what it was) and it does exactly the same thing.
