On a unix system only, do a 'man cron' to find the full syntax.

Basically it is a way of running jobs periodically, say every night at 11:45, or every hour or every Tuesday etc.

To create a new job you do something like 'cron -e' which allows you to edit the file that contains the jobs, the format is described in the man pages but each line can define a program to run and the time at which to run it.
