NHL freezes!

My NHL '97 freezes during the anthem or finally after
some minutes. Both in DOS and in Win95. With details off
and only sound effects turned on. Without the soundcard
it works. The machine is P133, 24 RAM, Sounblaster Vibra 16,
Diamond Stealth 2000. Any ideas? Anybody?

Thanks, Markku Roinila

Make sure your sound card is set to a generic Sound Blaster 16 or even try the pro or regular because unless it's creative labs, it can cause problems if you try to make a program think it's an authentic Sound Blaster 16.

Thanks! The solution does not work, however. I tried all
the options, but the result is the same. Is there a way
to check if the IRQs, DMAs etc are right, some kind of
config-file?

You look at the cards jumper settings.

Pardon my bad semantics. I meant the settings of the soundcard
detected by the game, in other words : does the game write
some kind of config-file, where the settings are stated. My
current SB-settings are : PORT 220, IRQ 5, DMA 1, HDMA 5. I
think the game should work on those values, but it does not.
Not even with a boot disk adviced in the manual. Another thing :
I was wondering if my version of the game is somehow different
than the normal version. In the details roster there is no mention of resolution or camera-angle (this can be changed
only pressing F11 or tab-button).

Thanks again, Markku Roinila

You have to run the setup or change the sound settings in the game (if that's possible) to change the IN GAME jumper settings.

Thanks again!

I tried all the options in the setup soundcard-section and
the result is the same : the game freezes. What next?
