applet HintedHREF: how to open new window?

I'm using an applet called HintedHREF, which makes hot-spots on an image map and pops up little text windows too, so you can tell the punter where they'll go if they click. However, I want to open a new window with the hyperlink. I've tried the usual TARGET="_blank" and even "TARGET:_blank", but neither seem to work. Any ideas?

If you want to display HTML page in some specified frame you have to use AppletContext.showDocument (URL, String FrameName) when FrameName can any existing frame or special named frames such as _self   - frame when applet embedded
_parent - parent frame of _self
_top    - top parent frame of _self
_blank  - new frame (empty browser window)
AppletContext object can retrieved by Applet.getAppletContext() method.
