Web Server with Dynamic IP addressing

I would like to test a web server (StarNine) and database to web integration package.  If these packages work as planned I will get a dedicated IP connection.  However, for the meantime I would like to test them using my dynamic IP addressing connection.  Can I do this?

Once the server is online I expect I could co to the FreePPP control panel and see what IP address is being used.  Then I could performs tests using this IP address.

Is this possible?

In theory they what you want to do is possible. You won't be able to access your server using DNS but you will by using the numeric IP address.

In practice it depends upon your service provider. You will have a dynamic IP address for the purpose of accessing the Internet through your service provider. Some service providers don't take kindly to the idea of you hosting a service through that IP address and will either block these requests or drop your connection if they detect such use.

The only way you will know for sure is to try it. I have heard of people who were able to 'host' web pages from their PC using Personal Web Server through a dynamic IP address and others who could not.

Good Luck.
