Graphic tablet cable problem

I have recently bought an old SUMMAGRAPHICS Summasketch IIIpro graphic tablet, but it was not provide with all the accessories. I need to know witch is the PIN assignment of the cable between the PC and the tablet. It could be great to know what type of power supply it needs.

Dear Werquin,

you should have written that into your question.

The only thing I can see now is to find someone else who owns the same model of tablet e.g. in an appropriate newsgroup and copy the cables he or she has using electrical measurement instruments. Remember: the pinout is treated by these companies like a trade-secret.

You can also try to find some computer-repair-store specialised on graphics companies. They might well make you a cable or at least a copy of the pinout-plan the might have for their purposes.

It is bad companies can still allow themselves a bad service like this.

Dear Wequin,

you should go to the place you bought the tablet and request the appropriate cable. Doing it yourself will possibly destroy your egliability for warrenty-claims.

The tablet is not under waranty because this is not a new graphic tablet. I have contacted the SUMMAGRAPHICS builder/reseller from PARIS to buy the accessories but these accessories are too costly (the price of the cable and power supply is near of the price of the tablet).
Thank you for your answer.

I dont know anyone who has tha same graphic-tablet...
The pinout is not a secret, the cable seems to be a sort of null-modem serial cable with power supply on the cable.
(There are RJ45 and RS232 connectors on the cable.)

just because the cables >>look like<< RJ45 or RS232 it does not necessarily have to be they have the same pinout. Some companies use standard connectors with propietrary pinout to force people to buy their products. By the way:

If you do not have the cables, do you have the drivers?

Why did you give only the D-rating?

I have already the drivers. The cable seems to be a null modem cable because it is written in the documentation of the tablet (PIN 2 and 3 of computer are crossed).
Thanks if you could find more information.
