Ghostscript can`t locate init.ps

I updated my ghostscript/ghostview to the alladin edition, but when I try to start it, I get the message that it can`t find the init.ps file. But if I start the ghostview from the Alladin (/usr/share/gs4.03) directory it works fine. I have installed ghostscript in /usr/share/gs4.03 and included this directory in my paths. I`m wondering if I have to set some enviroments like GS_PATH or similiar?

Yes, you need to supply this (or another) environment variable.

Other thing you could do is to copy the file init.ps to the direcroty from where you start Ghostscript (not very good solution) or to write a little script that starts the complete bussines:
------------------ cut here -----------
#!/bin/csh
(cd /usr/share/gs4.03; gs)
------------------ cut here -------------
and place this script (called maybe startgs.csh) in a place like /bin or any directory included in your path.
