HP DJ 500 Printer Driver - Updates?

Does anybody know of an updated win95 driver for this printer?
The one supplied with win95 just prints garbage. The win95 resource kit says that you need version 7.0 or later to work within win95. Why then do MS supply version 4 with win95? I can't find a version 7 driver in the HP or MS web-sites.
The generic DeskJet driver works (sort of) but I have problems with odd lines of hearts and diamonds popping up now and then. I get round this by
printing to file and then quitting to DOS before copying the file to the printer. This solution works but it would be a lot better if I could print hassle-free from within win95.
Thanks in advance.

I am not sure what the resource kit says but I have installed
the current driver that is on the HP web site on several computers and had no problem.  HP keep the most current
version of drivers on it's web page.   If you install that
driver and it doesn't work check for a bad printer cable.
It is posible that you cable isn't and IEEE rated cable and
can't handle the high speed of your port.  But if you install
the newest driver off HP's page and you can't get it to
work it is a hardware problem

I have checked out the HP ftp site below http://hpcc920.external.hp.com/cposupport/indexes1/dj500s.html

There are no w95 drivers for it! Did you use a Win3.1x driver?
