"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

First of all the error is not with MSVCRT40.DLL.

Uninstall completely, using the remove all option.

Ensure that the Ms-Office directory is deleted after un-install, if not delete it.

Re-boot Windows and run scandisk.

When complete install Office without Outlook.

Check all the applications then install Outlook by selecting add/remove from the Office install.

If this does not work, let me know the operating system you are running i.e 95/NT/3.11 and the version of Office

To find the error, try first Microsoft Exchange.
If you don't have it installed, install it.

There's a big correlation with both programs.
If Exchange works, the problem is hard to find.
If Exchange doesn't works, it just a simple service
bad installed. So remove Internet Mail, Microsoft Mail,
Microsoft Fax, ... all services you have, and
reinstall them.

Tell me something.
