Outlook problems

Outlook will not start,fist aid says the program is ok,
error msvcrt40.dll at014f 102ld 456.I have reloaded office completely still no go, copied the Msvcrt40.dll off office disk to windows and windows system, still no go. Any ideas,microsoft helpline failed at the moment and suggested
reloading which I have done.

First of all the error is not with MSVCRT40.DLL.

Uninstall completely, using the remove all option.

Ensure that the Ms-Office directory is deleted after un-install, if not delete it.

Re-boot Windows and run scandisk.

When complete install Office without Outlook.

Check all the applications then install Outlook by selecting add/remove from the Office install.

If this does not work, let me know the operating system you are running i.e 95/NT/3.11 and the version of Office

Have tried as you suggested deleted all I could find everywhere
of Office97 ran scandisk re booted etc reloaded office97 stil
get exactly same error.all other office programs work .
I am running windows 95 all other programs on machine are ok.
any more ideas, I will try again with your last suggestion.

To find the error, try first Microsoft Exchange.
If you don't have it installed, install it.

There's a big correlation with both programs.
If Exchange works, the problem is hard to find.
If Exchange doesn't works, it just a simple service
bad installed. So remove Internet Mail, Microsoft Mail,
Microsoft Fax, ... all services you have, and
reinstall them.
