How do Seach engines find web pages?

How do search engines find web pages?  Does the page have to be registered somewhere?

pjx826,

Yes, they have to be registered with whatever search engine the user is searching.

The way search engines work is by creating a database of all the web pages that have been registered to it.  What happens when someone does a search is that the server where the search engine is located searches the database for matching keywords (much like the search feature in most help files).

Hope this answers your question...
