I heard of an application(i think it's called DeRez that takes res edits resource file and saves it as a text file for compiling.  Does anyone know where i can find it?

Most Mac development environments include this utility.  CodeWarrior and MPW do.  However, Derez is not a standalone program (that I'm aware of) and must be run from within the CodeWarrior IDE or MPW.

I agree with "twall", DeRez is part of MPW and requires MPW, Codewarrior, or Symmantec IDE to host it.  It is not a standalone application.  If you have Codewarrior, install the MPW stuff and you'll have DeRez.  Also, as an alternative, if you have Resorcerer, simply open any resource file, view any resource and choose copy from the edit menu.  A text "derez" of the resource will be on the clipboard, switch to your favorite editor and paste.
