Hello,
i recently managed to set up Samba server on my Linux maschine and now i would like to let it run also as a fax server. Modem is already installed...
Now the problem:
With samba come some howtos how to set up mgetty+sendfax but i need a program called faxfilter? Where do i get it?
Aren`t there any other solutions? (e.g.hylafax but i didn`t find win or dos clients for it:-()
The modem should also be available for ppp incoming and so on. Perhaps also voice box. I use a ZyXel.

Typically, the faxfilter tools are part of various sendmail addons, not the qmail or smail products that Linux uses by default.  (Sendmail is there though, just not active.)  Worst case, the sendmail site on the new will point you to the add-ons.

Fax filter works by taking e-mail and translitterating it into fax, not by handling fax directly ala Microsoft style.  Just send e-mail by whatever means you want, and sendmail makes it a fax via fax filter and sends it off to the fax modem via products like Hylafax etc.

If you download the mgetty+sendfax distribution from the URL
suggested in Faxing.txt you will find a pointer to the following
URL in the frontends/win+samba directory:
http://isis.et.uni-magdeburg.de/~horstf
At this page you will find information about a system which
can be setup relatively easily with a simple Perl script on
the samba system and a tray application on the PC.

Okay, thanks found faxfilter, works perfect with some DOS clients but if a windows(95) client tries to send a postscript file to the printer, faxfilter just SOMETIMES (not regular) finds the telefon number, but NORMALLY it says that it cannot find the number?-(  Where is the error? Or the diffrence between DOS and WIN95???
