I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

When you install delphi there is a option to install the SQL drivers as well.

If you have installed the SQL drivers and you have the Client Drivers for Microsoft SQL then you should be able to create a Alias with the type set to MSSQL is delphi 2 and 3 or Sybase for Delphi 1.
In Delphi 1 you need to set the lang driver to Dic 437 as well.

If all of the drivers are set up correctly then it should connect.
