My sites sole purpose is to refer consumers to other sites (not within my domain). I want to be able to report the number of times each is clicked on. My services provider has a solution but is quite expensive.

Does anyone know of a client side utility that can count the number of times a link is clicked when that link is to another domain?

Dont mind purchasing a client side utility prgram if reasonable and necessary.

Thanks in advance.

The only way you'll be able to tell how many times a link was clicked on is to have the link actually point to a redirect CGI on your server.  The CGI will log the redirection and then send the clicker onto the final destination.  Otherwise you'll never be able to know how many links were clicked on.

If you do a Web search for any Perl CGI libraries, you'll be able to find a redirect CGI quite easily.  Have fun.

Not the solution you were looking for? Getting a personalized solution is easy.

If I wam looking to guage upwards of a thousand links would this type of setup/reporting be very time consuming for the server manager?
