I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Direct answer:
No way with JavaScript!!!

First Way around:
Simple Java applet can do this and pass data to
JavaScript.
But due to security restrictions applet can connect
only to server where from it was loaded.

second way around:
no sence to do it at client-side,
if you can do it inside CGI.

third way around :)
If you can open window for this cgi connection
you can get SOME data from child window with JavaScript
(again if both connections to the same server)
You can get forms data or you can get
links data from child window, so if CGI return
links you can get it, but not plain text of document.
