i need a delphi vcl component which works like a normal treeview, but also allows you to place bitmaps/icons/whatever by the side of each item in the list.Cheers.Paul.
Watch Question

I don't get it. You can use a Treeview with an imagelist and then you have your images next to your item. Or does every item needs a different image?

Yes, every item might potentially need its own image.
But i'll look into if treeview with imagelist might serve my purpose.

Well, I don't think that's possible with imagelist. Because I believe you can only give one (or two) images to each level (item on level 0 : 1 or 2 different images: level 1 : 1 or 2) of the tree.
I also search such a component. If you find it before me, could you give a comment?

sorry... i've just realised I also would really really like the component to have rich text captions.  And  i really do really really like to be able to put a different image with every node.
(Sorry about the poor english) Cheers for helping.
You can use TOutline with style otOwnerDraw.

I've looked at TOutline, and whilst it is owner-draw, I really dont like it.  The help is almost non-existent , and it is far from obvious how to edit items on different levels.  I'm going to reject this answer because i want something that does everything, and does it well.  I want richtext/owner draw and a proper object hierarchy of items/nodes (not some half-baked seperator character thang) , and drag/drop would be really cool too, in fact, highly ultra desirable.  Oh yes, it also needs to have the renaming of items a la' win95 on an itemclick.
There IS something out there that does all this, and i know this because i found it months ago, but now, of course, i cant find the pesky thing.  Paul.

hi Paul,
If you find that thing before I do, please give the address as a comment. I'm looking for such a component a long time ago and I don't want to make myself. Don't have time for it.
C.u. ZifNab;

Is anybody out there?

Knock, knock, don't you have a clue of where you've seen such a component?
Yes ! We are here, but I don't know any component for you. I can help only with other questions.

Zifnab - it was months ago when i last saw it.  I thought it was from lightlib, or from some chart components outfit, but all my searches have since proven fruitless.  If nothing gets found this week then i'll probably have to make a compromise.  I know its not on all the usual pages (superpage, deli, etc), its tucked away in some backwater of the internet somewhere.  I saw an advert for it in a developer magazine as well - but on recent inspection nothing was found.  Ho hum.  I'm giving it till friday.  Where are you from with a name like ZifNab?

I'm from Belgium, but my real name is Tom. I just use ZifNab because that's not a usual name and I found it in a book which I found great. The person in the book was brilliant (a sort of old wizard, very confused,...).
c.u. Tom

so, no treeview component anyone...ANYONE???
