A few possibilities here - have you changed your system? What I suggest is that you go to www.shareware.com and get the latest version of Sparkle:

sparkle2.45.sit.hqx
mac/multimedia/
Jul 22,1996
1110 K

The blurb - which may be of relevance to your situation - says:

Sparkle 2.4.5 A mac-look-and-
feel MPEG and QT player and
converter. This should replace
Sparkle 2.4.3 in the info-mac
archives. On a PowerPC Sparkle
2.4.5 REQUIRES Sound Manager
3.1 which you can obtain from
ftp://ftp.support.apple.com/
pub/apple_sw_updates/US/mac/
System Software/OtherSystemSoftware/
Sound_Manager_3.1.hqx On a
68K system you do not need
SoundManager 3.1 but without
it you won't be able to use
.WAV or IMA sound files. Also
in this package are a VERY
rough quick and dirty port
of some unix MPEG-2 decoding
code. This will allow you to
see what's in an MPEG2 file
and save the result as a QT
movie.

If this fails to show your movies, then please comment on what happens before rejecting the answer and I will provide some other alternatives. If unsuccessful, tell me what your computer and system are.

Good luck,

Rifty

P.S. If you have no luck with Sparkle, you might like to try

ya-movie-player-30-beta.hqx

from www.shareware.com (do a search for the above in the Mac section!)

I tried it but wasn't keen on it. But I did find that Peter's Player - petersplayer1.1.sit.hqx - is a tiny movie player that seems to run most movie forms just fine. It's available from

http://www.telstra.com.au/cgi-bin/vsl-front

but if you copy the following to the "Open Location" dialog box on your browser, you might get straight to it:

http://www.telstra.com.au/cgi-bin/vsl-front/Find?category=Macintosh&search=peter&logop=and&and=player&orfile=++&hits=100

All the best,
