Ivan Simon has a paper online at http://cactus.fi.uba.ar/dspwww/eg3/compiler.htm
that is a nice talk about designing a compiler.

Is this an academic thing, where you actually need to understand compiler design, or do you need to design one. If the latter, have you checked out http://www.first.gmd.de/gentle/manuals.html or
http://albrecht.ecn.purdue.edu/~rfisher/Tutorials/PCCTS/
which are compiler generator tools?

In addition to these, a search of the web yielded
http://cactus.fi.uba.ar/dspwww/eg3/compiler.htm
which has a bunch of links, but nothing that looks like a tutorial (they seem to recommend buying a book, not a bad idea actually <G>)

Actually Simon only covered the scanner phase of compiler implementation, but he might add the other parts later on.
