Dial-Up Password Problem

When I use dial-up networking it continues to ask for a password. The box to check for saving the password is not highlighted so I can't check it. I have been using the MS ISDN dial-up program. The program "remembered " my password for the past six months. Now it won't let me activate the remember option. Is there any way to resolve this other than reinstalling the the dial-up program?
Thanks

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi cattle...
If you have looked at any of the others questions on this site, you will find that many people have had the problem you describe, including myself. There are any number of corrections and updates for this problem. All involve unibstalling and reinstalling parts of the networking software. Frankly, after trying for months to fix this problem on my system, I QUIT. Get a program called dunce v252 at www.windows95.com. Look in the 1996 award winning file. This program will through in your password on the dialer and works really well.

You have checked to see that you still have the Client for Microsoft Networks installed in the Network Control Panel? Also, check in your Windows directory to see that you still have the <USERNAME>.pwl file still there, USERNAME being the name you log into Windows with.
