Help! Appletalk problems with OS8

Help!

I am using a PowerPC 180 with 64 mbs of ram, and currently using OS8. When I turn on Appletalk, it slows my machine seriously - - window "echos" remain, windows slow to open and close , control strip takes time to open and close, apps run slow - - when I turn off Appletalk, everything runs fine ---very puzzling.

I have tried just basic OS8 system with standard extensions, I have no wierd stuff, extensions, etc.; I have ethernet hooked up to Apple Laserwriter IIf via a farralon etherwave printer adaptor. I have isolated the printer as a possible cause by taking the printer off line, etherwave offline, still problem remains.

Any Ideas or comments? Pls email me at dan@fortune.org.

Thanks in advance

Reinstall the networking components from your original CD ROM. If you want, run something like Norton Disk Doctor prior to doing this to see if there is a file problem. Also make sure that you are using the proper printer driver. Older printers do not function well on Laserwriter 8. Try the older Laserwriter driver.
