Web Page Authoring Software

I am seeking recommendations for a first rate web page authoring tool.It should be as comprehensive as possible with special attention to the following features:

1) I need the ability to preview my pages in a variety of screen resolutions without having to change my monitor/video card settings. I enjoy working in 1024 x 768 but need to be able to quickly asses what someone is going to see at 640 x 480.

2) The ability to create animated GIFs and Java applets.

3) Spell check.

4) Lots of templates.

5) A really good wizard.

I am not adverse to shelling out a few bucks for this but need to be sure I get what I need.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

ckalid...

Well the choice is wide, therefore let me address one issue at a time:

Q. 1) I need the ability to preview my pages in a variety of screen resolutions without having to change my monitor/video card settings. I enjoy working in 1024 x 768 but need to be able to quickly asses what someone is going to see at 640 x 480.
A. It does not exist, the authoring package has nothing to do with the resolution, you would have to compose your HTML file and then test it in different resolution OR make sure you do not exceed in any table or page the 640 pixels width.. (total)

Q. The ability to create animated GIFs and Java applets.
A. Gif animation require a photo editing program like (Paint shop or the best PHOTOSHOP etc...) to compose your frames and another application like GIF construction set to assemle these frames.
Ther is not an authoring pacakge that will give you these.
As for the Java applet (which are not very recommended as they drive all browsers crasy) I recomment HOG DOG 4.0 as it has the wizards and Java applets on the fly without intervention.

Q. Spell check
A. Most of the authoring program has this feature
( Adobe pagemil, Hot Dog 4.0, Hot metal etc...)

Q. Lots of templates
A. Hot Dog 4.0 the best I have seen in template (in my opinion for beginners)

Q. A really good wizard
A. Again Hot Dog 4.0 a very nicely driven wizard.

I hope I have answered all your questions here, but if you still need more, let me know!
