Adding an Icon to Desktop in Win95 with D1

Hi

My latest ap will be used on both Win95 and 3.X machines.  I know how to create a program group etc for Win 3.X, but how do I put a program icon on the front screen in Win95.  I am using D1.

The icons on the Win 95 desktop are shortcuts, and you cannot create a shortcut with Delphi 1.  What I have seen some people do is ship a 2nd exe with their setup program which is written in Delphi 2 or 3.  The Delphi 1 exe calls the 2nd exe to create the shortcut if running on a Win 95 machine.  Thus the purpose of the 2nd exe is purely to create the icon on the desktop.

I can give you code for Delphi 2/3 to create a shortcut on a desktop if you decide to use this kind of approach.

Thanks JimBob

I don't have access to Delph1 2, but if you have code in D2 that can do it, would it be possible to email me a simple exe which uses parameters that I can call it with, to do the job??

My email address is johnd@caverock.net.nz
I have sent you an app compiled under Delphi 3.  Please let me know if you get it...
