Problems with HP660C

Hi there !!!
Oh yes I have read and read and read..... (man, Howto´s etc...)
I´ve spent a week (not kidding!) trying to configure my HP 660C to print
with linux...

I´ve tried everything (even magicfilter)
So, here is my problem:
My printer does NOT work with text, nor does it work with PostScript....
Well, actually one of the postcript files that come with Slakware 96 does
work: colorcir.ps....
Why does just that file work ????
P.S. can´t setup my X-win either.... I just can´t get the mode section to
work...
