In this case I use a dos C oriented editor made by C Source
(12801 frost road  kensas city , MO 64138 1-816-353-8808) I do not know if this address is good. It can compare files opened into 2 windows.

It's an old pgm but i still use it!

I use Source Insight from Source Dynamics www.sourcedyn.com on a project with 250k lines of code.  It is very good at finding all instances of a symbol, navigating, global replace, etc.  I think they offer a time-limited free trial.
