First, which version of photoshop do you have? I will assume it's version 4.0. Recently adobe upgraded this version to 4.1 to deal with just the problems that you are having. Go to adobe's web site and look for upgrade file and install it. Some of your virtual device drivers are conflicting with your operations. DO not have anything else open when running Photo shop. Try turning off any programs running on the taskbar 1st. Unnecessary programs create conficts. Also try uninstalling photoshop, then reinstalling to a different location if that doesn't work.(Photoshop is very easily reinstalled) If you can't find the upgrade contact me at abarbeau@isd.net and I will send it to you.

It is funny, sort of, that I spent the entire day (today) dealing with a very similar problem. 1st, my scanner wigged out and refused to wake up, so I tried to test it and that didn't work, next I tried to reinstall adobe photoshop2.0 (hp scanjet 4100c  ver), with typemgr & IE, = inf failure,= illegal operation, =shut down. Now the scanner comes to, but the hp694c deskjet printer won't print,= (printer problem: data required to print cannot be found or is corrupt..) That was a doosie.. test  comm,  ok.  test print, ok. test test ok. still>^< add new printer(config) save as default, lose the old right? still test ok, no go, go to hp.com and download v9.03 driver and install, reinstall printer software,=OE Fatal exception as soon  as I hit ok to print a jpeg? SysCrash, reboot, safe mode now, emmerg w95 bootdisk, reboot,  trans sys,  remove adobe typemgr, photoshop2.0. Back up now. Remove IE and some other useless apps, run scandisk, defrag, even degauss, reinstall just adobe photoshop- no fonts (i have 209 installed already), but knowing of old conflict with atm and hp. I also use netscape, so  don't want to reinstall IE which came w/hp scanjet4100c. Test scanner, test copy, test printer, ns, all ok, scanner, printer and photoshop work, and  I'm  going to sleep tonight  / :~ ) >
