I have an ATI mach64 w/2MB and Diamond Monster 3D.
Today I installed Mechwarrior 2 which was bundled with the
Monster 3D, but when I select a mission the computer doesn't
access the game, and I am notified of "Mission Failed".
Can it be the CD's fault or is it a conflict ?
Other 3Dfx games run OK, I must add - and also the drivers are
installed properly.  I am using DirectX 3.0a with Diamond's drivers
version 1.09 (which support DirectX 5.0).

Try installing Direct X 5 and try it again.  For newer games it is always better to have the newest drivers.  Even if the olders are suppose to be compliant. Get if from : http://www.microsoft.com/DIRECTX/RESOURCES/downloads/dx5eng.exe
