I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

First what OS are you using, if you are using Win95 or Nt then it is really rather simple. for 95 you must install the microsoft networks Protocols such as Ipx/spx or Netbeui or TCP/IP. Tcp/ip is best. for winNT (worstations) set up the TCP/IP protocol on all machines and assign a different IP address to each, with the same workgroup name. Of course you will need to install network cards into each machine and run the necessary cables..

TCP/IP may be better, but it is also the hardest to configure.

I can show you an easier way, if you want.

TCP is not as hard as it sounds. Install the protocol on all machines, assign a different IP address to each machine, give each machine a different name and common workgroup name, Reboot...Open Network Neighbourhood....you should see a name of the other computers there.
