Mtick: Sometimes when games attempt to load DirectX5 first and then the game components, files that are in use by Windows 95 are unable to be updated. Mtrr.vxd happens to be one of them. This procedure will clear that up for you.

1. Visit the DirectX5 free download area at Microsoft's free software download site and download DirectX5 to a clean (no other files in it) temporary directory.

http://www.microsoft.com/directx/download.asp

2. Once you have the files downloaded, then use your "Ctrl"  "Alt"  and  "Del" keys and open the "Close Porgrams"  dialogue box and close all running programs except for "Systray" and "Explorer".

3. Using eithe Find, Files and Folders or Windows Explorer, locate the execute file for DirectX5 and click on it. This will bring up the installation, just follow the directions to install and then restart the system. You should be good as new with the update.

cmb, which version of mtrr.vxd are you trying to provide Mtick? Are you sure it is compatible with what has been already installed?

hi,dew:

yes every .dll or .vxd has it's own version in win95.but all of
them  are well compatible.

when I install some newer software win95 often tell me"you are trying to install a old version of these files: xxx.vxd or xxx.dll" and ask me if I am certain to replace.but actually they are well compatible.
