Is it possible to upgrade a Performa 475 to a PowerPC?  How far can you go?  How much does it cost?  What vendors  are there?  Is it worth it?

The answer is, that it isn't worth. You can upgrade a 680x0 processor to a Power PC 60x processor, but the rest of your motherplane is too slow to get good performance. It's better to buy a new one.
