A message has a property known as PR_IMPORTANCE (see mapitags.h). You can set it to either IMPORTANCE_LOW, IMPORTANCE_NORMAL, or IMPORTANCE_HIGH.

My mistake, I wasn't specific enough. Is there any way in MSVC 1.52 to set the priority of an outgoing mail message using Simple MAPI ?  If not, is there an alternative messaging API I can use (CMC, etc).  Thanks.

No, there isn't a way to do with simple MAPI. You can however, use Extended MAPI, but I believe that is only 32-bits.
