Playing Sound on a PC via X

Scenario:

XMotif/C application being developed on a Sparc running SunOS 4.13.
Application is used on a PC via Exceed.
I need to produce a beep (or several) on the PC via the code. I have tried XBell but that only works on the Sparc
and not on the PC. Any suggestions how this can be achieved ??

Thanks

Manoj

The first step is to establish whether you get a beep when you echo ^G from within an xterm or telnet window. If you do, then you know that it is a problem in your application rather than in the configuration of your X server.

You could also check whether you get a BadValue error from XBell.
