We use the NT Server that is shipped with the MSDN CD's. Until recently the 10 user limit was sufficient. But now we need 2 additional connects. Is it unavoidable to buy the full (expensive) Retail version? Or can we simply buy a few CAL's??

I think you may already be in violation of the terms of the license that comes with NT server in MSDN.  First, it is technically limited to 10 clients.  Further, it is licensed under MSDN for testing/development only.  You cannot add additional clients to it nor can you use it for production or other "day-to-day" business.  My advice is to get the "retail" version with the number of clients you need to support your users.

Pity! I expected this answer. But if you have a working copy of a product, wouldn't you use it in stead of buying another copy?
Thanks anyway for making me sure....

I just discovered this: if you add all users to the group administrators the 10 user limit can be exceeded. Is this a bug in the security system??

Remember, just because you CAN do, doesn't mean you MAY do it (legally).
