How to programaticaly detect if IE4 is installed and which version is installed, ex: french or english.

Yo,

I had the same problem. IE3/4 messes around with soooo many files with different version numbers, it is just a pain. The only file I found that is updated by all IE installations is inetcpl.cpl in the system (system32 in NT) directory.
Read the version information and you get the language, version number etc.
For example, 4.70.1300 is IE 3.02 Build 1300, 4.72.xxxx is IE 4.

To read the version information, use GetFileVersionInfoSize, GetFileVersionInfo and VerQueryValue.
