I want to write an MFC application that specifically uses the DDE (and not OLE) protocol to transfer data to and from other legacy applications. Does MFC provide any classes and/or specific methods for DDE? The only support I found is an OnDDECommand method in CWinApp, and that only provides a handler for DDE execute strings passed to the application.

No, there isn't any built-in classes. However, if you have access to the MSDN library, you can search for an article by Nigel Thompson where he provides several classes to do this. The title is "Implementing DDE using C++ classes." You might be able to find this article on http://www.microsoft.com/msdn.

At http://www.anthemion.co.uk/ you can find a Classes that implement DDE for MFC.

At http://www.flashcast.com/dde32/ you can find "DDE32 for Visual C++".
