I am a network administrator for PCs.  I have to get a Quadra 840AV Attached to our LAN, running TCP/IP for the purpose of printing to a colour laser printer.  What kind of Hardware will I need, and does the Quadra 840 line have a PCI bus?  Any brief tips to what technology would be appreciated.  OS is 7.5.something..

Thanks,
Scott.

The 840 line does not have a PCI bus.  It relies on the NuBus architecture.  It has built in Ethernet, in the form of an AUUI port.  You need to purchase a transciever (available from Asante or Apple or 3rd parties) of the flavour of ethernet you use (10BaseT, Thin, Thick, etc...).

You will also need the latest Laserwriter 8 driver from Apple (www.info.apple.com), which supports printing over TCP/IP.

I hope this answered your questions.

I hadn't even noticed the AUI port.  Thanks for the info - that helps a great deal!
