I don't have a manual for my for modem for the information that I am seeking.  I am running a Packard Bell 200 MMX that has both win95 and linux.  Problem is that my modem is not responding to my linux system using ppp or minicom but works great for win95.  I need to know all compatibilities my modem (sound III 336sp) supports such as Hayes or Group III. I have been using Hayes even though I'm not sure if thats a correct assumption.  Is there a place on the web that talks about this specific device? I looked at packardbell.com and had no luck.

That modem is a "winmodem / mwave" type modem and wont work under Linux, mo mather how much you try. This isnt a real modem, only a DSP that uese the CPU do do the modulation.

however the port is a hardwear port and will work without any extra drivers (for what it's worth)
