Boot error>> Vid capture not installed

Here's the sequence of events and the current state of my 'pooter

1.  WPS hangs after boot, mouse cursor was a timer, rather than the pointer.

2.  Using WatchCat demonstrated a whackload of blocked threads.

3.  I recall seeing my demo of Clearlook booting, inexplicably with previous sessions.  At the time I assumed I'd closed my OS2 session with the program still active and it had just opened on startup (shades of jsnorman's question).

4.  Chkdsk showed a pile of allocation errors.  Going to the command line at boot up (Alt-F1) and running chkdsk showed the identical allocation errors that had been "repaired" on booting.  The boot lockup persisted.

5.  Deleted Clearlook demo from the command line at boot (Alt-F1)

6.  No locks but error message of MME.MSG not found with a subsequent SYS1201 Device Driver c:\mmos2\VCSHDD.sys on line 130 of config.sys not installed.  Line 130 ignored.

7.  No multimedia support.  Added MMOS2 to the path got rid of the MME.MSG but the 1201 error persists.  In addition, the error: "Boot error  IBM VideoCapture Stream Handler ver 1.10 NOT installed" comes up prior to the 1201 error.

8.  I've reloaded an old desktop to no avail.

9.  Running Warp 4 with no fixpacks.  Recent major install includes Netscape 2.02 with Java.

Any comments or thoughts on this? Thanks for your time everyone.

Reboot, and press-and-hold CTRL-SHIFT-F1
when you see the "hourglass" cursor
on your desktop, to avoid procesing
your "startup" folder.
Then, cut-and-paste the output from WATCHCAT.

1) I don't seem to be able to cut and paste from WatchCat.

2) Perhaps I should clarify that the lockups are NOT happening at this point, I get the error messages above (points 6 and 7) and I have no multimedia support at all, but everything else runs fine.

3) Incidentally, the messages appear after my Watchcat loads which precedes the VCSHDD.SYS with the following intervening
segment
<<WATCHCAT STARTS HERE>>
REM ###############
CALL=C:\IBMCOM\PROTOCOL\NETBIND.EXE
CALL=C:\OS2\CMD.EXE /Q /C C:\MPTN\BIN\MPTSTART.CMD >NUL
REM *** WATCHCAT 2.1 MAIN PROGRAM - REQUIRED
REM *** WATCHCAT 2.1 PROCESS MANIPLUATION CENTER DRIVER
REM *** WATCHCAT 2.1 CAD PACKAGE CONTROL PROGRAM
DEVINFO=SCR,VGA,C:\OS2\BOOT\VIOTBL.DCP
SET VIDEO_DEVICES=VIO_MGA
SET VIO_VGA=DEVICE(BVHVGA)
SET WSQL=C:\WSQL
SET SQLSTART=rtstart %d
DEVICE=C:\MMOS2\MIDI.SYS
DEVICE=C:\MMOS2\VCSHDD.SYS  <<<--- ONE OF THE ERRORS RE: THIS.

This is going to sound pretty inane, but whats the WSQL, I don't seem to have this directory?!?

Anyway, hope that helps some. Again, I don't seem to be able to cut/paste from the version of WatchCat I have.

How about trying "Selective Uninstall",
and removing the MMOS/2 support?
Then, edit 'CONFIG.SYS', to ensure that no
reference(s) to the MMOS2 directory are present.
Then, reboot, and use "Selective Install"
to reload the MultiMedia support?

Okay Otta

The re-installation seemed to do the trick.  I've lost the MPEG support I had with Netscape's new version, but re-installing that should do the trick.  Thanks very much.  I was hoping it was something simple that I wouldn't have to reinstall, but c'est la vie.
