Database backup...

I´m trying to make backup and restore of Interbase databases, from my application. Somebody knows an easy way for this, or a component that perform it? Thanks!!

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi,

The easiest way that I have used is to copy the '.GDB' file onto a tape or catridge. This is particularly useful when I need to talk to two databases by just changing the path of the interbase data file in the alias.

Hi bijoyn, is there also an easy way for Access tables? Just copy those files too?

Hi, people! Ok, the comments are valid, but is not that I want. I need something that perform the following tasks:

1- Compress the database (with data).
2- Create a backup file in floppy, surely in severals volumes.

I need make this programatically, preferently mantaining the transparency for the user.
Thanks for the feedback!!

Look at www.torry.ru    There are several components that you can link into your application to perform compression.  At that point you would need to:

1).  Compress the data file.
2).  Read the compressed file up to 1.44 MB and do a streaming
write to a floppy.
