I'm trying to use Allaire Forums 2.0 but it uses cookies and my users have expressed much hate for cookies (damn them).  So is there anyway to not use cookies with this product or can someone recomend a product that makes a forum on a webpage but does not use cookies???

Time to Educate the USERS.   Cookies are extremly important to forums.  Unless you want to rewrite 15,000 lines of cold fusion code.  For more info visit the forums.allaire.com site and search for 'cookies'

Here is a good disclamer that you could modify so your users will understand the use of cookies.

Why the Use of Cookies in Our Forums

The cookies are created and used by the forums software, Allaire Forums™. The cookies are used to remember you. This way, if you post a new message or reply, the next time you do it your name and email address will already be filled in for you. And if you like to only see certain forums for a certain period of days, the forums package knows this because it knows who you are. And if you want to only see the messages posted since the last time you were in, you click on "New Messages" and it shows you just that.

The only way it can do all that is to track and record. This doesn't mean that it records your name, weight, and eating habits. In fact, if I went into the SQL database that tracks all of this I couldn't tell you who's who. The cookies are there to simplify life.

You will also find that most forums use cookies to hold "state"  they are a needed evil.
