Installing CD-Rom in a Tandy 3100 Model 10

I currently have 2 hard drives in this computer.  I have been running a 2X CD-Rom hooked to the sound card.  I have purchased a 24X unit only to find that I cannot go through the sound card anymore.  The problem is getting the computer to recognize another IDE interface card.  Is this model computer capable of a secondary IDE port?  If so,  how do I configure it?  When I install the card, I get an error message that says "0 Drive Not Found" and "Press F2 to setup utility.  Does anyone under stand this?  I have asked the people I purchased the computer from but could not get a satisfactory answer.  The motherboard has 1 IDE port on it and is controlling 2 hard drives.  Am I looking at a motherboard upgrade?

If the card have two ide connectors then you need to disable one and  set the other to IRQ 15 and connect your cd-rom and then install drivers. If there is only one ide connection then make sure that it is set to irq 15. If you press F2 and you get into bios seting you may want to disable on board ide controler and use card you have one ide primary set to irq 14 and second one secondary set to irq 15. owner manual will show you how to change jumpers. Upgrading motherboard is not bad ide since you can get pentium motherboard with ultra DMA and USB ports for $68 and cyrix 200 mhz sells for $60  try www.compgeeks.com or www.onsale.com/computers.htm or www.onsale.com/exchange.htm

I think you missed the point as I stated that  I already have two hard drives connected to the IDE port on my motherboard ( which only has One IDE port ). My condern is that I have tried to install an IDE  I/O card for the IDE connection. when I do The computer tells me that Drive "0" is not present, which should be floppy drive "A" The system I am using is a Tandy 3100 model 10 with a 486DX processor.

what kind ide controler card you are adding to your system. IRQ 6 is used by floppy controler, irq 14 is used by primary ide controler the one you have now so if you add card which is set to the same irq then bios will have problems with finding device atached to on board cards. Also you must run setup utility from tandy. to run utility press F2 when you boot your computer and when your computer ask you to press f2 or from hard disk change to dos and type setuprom and press enter. Also there is support from tandy at support.tandy.com
